One-on-one voice sessions on the mathematics section of the JEE: algebra, trigonometry, coordinate geometry, calculus, vectors and 3D geometry, and probability. Work is done by talking through a problem out loud — choosing a substitution, deciding whether a locus question is faster in parametric or Cartesian form, spotting when a limit needs L'Hopital versus a series expansion — rather than watching a worked solution. Sessions target the reasoning step where a solution stalls, and the arithmetic-to-answer speed that a three-hour paper demands.

- Definite and indefinite integration: substitution, by parts with the ILATE ordering, partial fractions, and king/queen properties for symmetric limits
- Coordinate geometry of conics: tangent and normal conditions, chord of contact, director circle, and locus problems on the parabola, ellipse and hyperbola
- Complex numbers and quadratic theory: rotation via multiplication by e^(i·theta), nth roots of unity sums, and conditions on roots using discriminant and Vieta relations
- Vectors and 3D: scalar and vector triple products, shortest distance between skew lines, plane through a line, and angle between line and plane
- Probability and combinatorics: conditional probability, Bayes' theorem, binomial distribution, and counting with restrictions using inclusion-exclusion

Where learners get stuck
- Applying L'Hopital's rule to a limit that is not actually 0/0 or infinity/infinity, or applying it repeatedly without rechecking the form
- The rule is usually taught as a fast shortcut and gets attached to the word 'limit' rather than to the indeterminate form. Students stop checking the numerator and denominator each time, and a limit like (x + sin x)/x at infinity gets differentiated into a non-convergent mess.
- Treating continuity at a point as sufficient for differentiability, especially with modulus and greatest-integer functions
- Graphs of |x| and similar functions look connected, and the intuitive picture of 'no break' maps onto continuity. Differentiability requires equal left and right derivatives, which is a separate limit computation students skip because the graph 'looks fine'.
- Losing or gaining solutions when squaring both sides of a trigonometric or surd equation, or when multiplying an inequality by a variable expression
- The algebraic manipulation feels reversible. Squaring introduces roots of the negated equation, and multiplying an inequality by an expression of unknown sign flips the direction silently — both produce answers that match a listed option, so the error is not caught.
What a session looks like
A typical session starts with one problem you are stuck on or one you got wrong in a mock. You describe your approach out loud; the tutor asks what the question is actually constraining before any formula is written. From there you either finish that problem with prompts rather than a handed-over solution, or step back to the underlying identity or theorem if the gap is structural. Sessions usually end with two or three similar problems to attempt alone before the next one, and a note of which standard result was missing.
Helpful to know first
- Class 11 and 12 algebra: sequences and series, permutations and combinations, binomial theorem, and matrices and determinants
- Trigonometric identities, general solutions of trigonometric equations, and inverse trigonometric functions with their principal value ranges
- Differentiation rules including chain, product, quotient and implicit differentiation, and standard integral forms
- Basic straight lines and circles in coordinate geometry
Questions
- Is this for JEE Main maths or JEE Advanced maths?
- Both, but the sessions are pitched to the depth you ask for. Main-level work emphasises speed on standard patterns and accuracy in numerical-answer questions; Advanced-level work spends longer on multi-concept problems, multiple-correct options and questions where the setup matters more than the computation.
- My child can solve problems at home but freezes in tests. Does this help?
- Partly. Sessions work on the decision that costs time — which method to commit to in the first thirty seconds, and when to abandon a problem. That is practised by talking through the choice out loud. Full-length timed papers still need to be sat separately under exam conditions.
- Can maths be tutored by voice without seeing the working?
- For conceptual and method-selection work, yes — you narrate your steps and the tutor responds to the reasoning. It suits explaining why a substitution works, unpicking a wrong assumption, or drilling standard results. Long symbolic manipulation is still better checked on paper alongside.
- Which chapters carry the most weight in JEE maths?
- Calculus, coordinate geometry and algebra account for the bulk of the paper across recent years, with vectors and 3D, probability and complex numbers appearing consistently in smaller numbers. Sessions can be planned around whichever of these your current mock scores show as weakest.
